It doesn't take much...

Ok.... New favorite t-shirt website....

Torso Pants

I mean seriously, the name alone is a riot. Torso Pants? Sounds like something my husband came up with. In fact, I think I am just going to say that to him 30 times tonight and laugh at him. Tomorrow when he gets his blog roll, he will think I'm pretty damn funny.... or buzzed.

Moms

Trying to connect with other moms has been a bit of an issue for me. I am a liberal in a strangely mulletted conservative region. It truly has its moments.

The first year I was here, I thought I was going to stick a fork in my eye. No one moves to the area and very few move out. So, for instance, the first week that I was living in the area, I needed to use the elevator in a major department store. I asked an employee where the elevator was and the response, without even looking up, was, "Where the furniture department used to be."

Used to be? That is of no use to me!

So finally I have connected with other moms. Moms, who like me, have a masters degree, but have chosen to stay home to raise their children. I get to have intelligent conversations about politics, religion and poop. Well... I am STILL a mom.

It is totally corny, but I thank God that I have a few people around who I feel a connection with. It was a long time coming.

Update on the Self

It has been a long time since I have posted so I wanted to pop in. My life is hectic suddenly. I have a potty trained three year old and an almost one year old who is mobile and in EVERYTHING. (Oh yes, caps deliberate!)

So I have more to say but less time to say it in. And when I think about blogging later in the day, I am too friggin tired to complete a thought. This blog was never intended to be about the daily musings of my children. And that seems to be all I have recently to comment on.

So since I'm here....

My kids are both being baptized on Easter Sunday. We finally have found a church where I feel comfortable standing up in front of everyone and saying, "Yes, we trust you to help us raise our children." It's a nice spot to finally be in.

So, crack smoker that I am, I decided to invite the whole clan for the festivities. And since many of the family is Catholic, they decided to come on in. We will be hosting 13. Six of them will be children under the age of 9. It is my intent to enjoy myself. But I am not going to make any promises.

Another IMBIB

I had previously decided to post some IMBIBs...

Well I wanted to let you know of another recent one. The guy in line in front of me at the grocery store had 12 chicken pot pies and three cans of silly string.

Seriously.

I almost followed him home.

Guilty Pleasures?

Someone asked me the other day what my guilty pleasures were. I wasn't quite sure how to answer! What were they looking for? Some sort of deep secret?

I really don't have any guilty pleasure. That would mean I feel guilty over something. I have no guilt. All of my "pleasures" are totally necessary and I have no guilt over them!

I take a hot bath just about every night. It is a pleasure that I feel no guilt over. I turn the fan on so I can't hear the kids and hubby takes over. I usually have a trashy novel with me and some nice smelly bubbles. It's nice!

I also have a glass of wine just about every night. It's one glass. I don't even get buzzed. It's just nice. I say it's for my heart.

Naps happen just about every day. I love them. And, quite honestly, I need them. I have napped at least three times a week for the past five or so years. It keeps me sane and patient - which is something that, as a mother, I totally need.

But one thing that I love love love is trash night. I love throwing crap out. It is a cleansing feeling that washes over me as I walk through the house looking for random crap that's simply not necessary. And I love lugging all that random crap to the street for big strong men to take away. I just wish the trash went in the morning and not at night. I think watching the garbage men take my trash just might be my guilty pleasure.

Not Exactly Headline News!

So I saw this headline today....

Some Parents Regret Names Of Kids
Naming Baby Seen As Part Of Successful Life

Um.... Ya think? It brings up the same debate over and over again - you will have your name longer as an adult than you have it as a child. My husband and I imagined ourselves yelling the name at the playground and pictured it on a law firm marquis. It worked both ways. Clearly not every parent thinks before they sign a birth certificate!

@$#%$^ Chicken!

There is a convenience store in PA, MD and OH (possibly a few other states) named Sheetz. It's your typical convenience store - buy a newspaper, coffee, fill your car up with gas. But recently, an ad campaign has caused quite a stir. What was it?

Crispy Frickin Chicken

It's all over the place on billboards and people are freaking out. Why? The word "frickin." Clearly we have nothing better to worry about!

Read all about it here.
